It’s time for adventure! Mendip Activity Centre is an outdoor activity provider setting the gold standard in school outdoor adventure trips. With over 30 years of experience delivering brilliant school residential trips to Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Colleges, the Mendip team are well practiced in inspiring young people to make time for adventure.
Real Adventure
Students experience real adventure whilst surrounded by one of South West England’s most special natural playgrounds, the Mendip Hills National Landscape. Whether Climbing on real rock faces, Kayaking down a river or Archery with an actual bow and arrow, our adventurous school activity residentials are designed to challenge and inspire young people.
Unique Destinations
Mendip’s unique destinations are immersed in nature but filled with plenty of home comforts. We have a range of accommodation venues across Somerset including a Canvas Tented Village, a Youth Hostel, a Country Lodge and a traditional Campsite.
Technology Free
Make time to disconnect and young people boost confidence, build resilience and reconnect with nature. Outdoor learning is powerful. We believe spending time in the great outdoors and tackling adventure, helps set all students up for future challenges.
ACTION PACKED ADVENTURE
Our school outdoor activity residentials are available all year round for Primary school, secondary schools and colleges.
Let us organise it all: fully catered from your first evening meal to your last lunch. You'll have exclusive accommodation and activities every day. We'll design an action-packed school trip with a range of adventurous activities, focused on the values of outdoor, adventure and growth.

Evening activities include night walks, team challenges, tobogganing, orienteering, blind trails, frisbee golf, competitions, campfires, discos and film nights.
MENDIP BASECAMP
Available between May and October, Mendip Basecamp is Mendip's canvas accommodation.
It forms part of Mendip's 250-acre Activity Centre in the heart of the Mendip Hills National Landscape.
The minimum number of students required to book a school residential at Mendip Basecamp is 55 students.
Basecamp can accommodate large groups of up to 300 students.
YHA CHEDDAR
Available all year round, YHA Cheddar is a 55-bed youth hostel in Somerset town of Cheddar.
With two buildings, this venue is perfect for smaller primary school residentials or secondary school field study trips.
This venue is well-situated to visit Cheddar Gorge and with direct access to the Mendip Hills, it's bound to be an adventurous week!
TENTED VILLAGE
Available between June and September, the tented village is Mendip's smaller pop-up campsite.
It forms part of Mendip's 250-acre Activity Centre in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
This venue is more suitable for smaller groups and therefore requires a minimum of 30 students.
CATERING
Our menus are locally sourced and packed with all the energy you need for the adventure ahead. Everything is prepared on site in our fully-equipped commercial catering kitchen to ensure your students have well balanced and freshly cooked food all week.
What's included?
Catering starts with your first evening meal and ends with your final packed lunch before you head home We are able to cater for all dietary needs and requirements. We will provide details of all our menus including allergens and calories.
