Mendip is looking for motivated, passionate and brilliant instructors to take on roles at Mendip Activity Centre as we expand our existing instructor team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

You’ll work in a variety of outdoor environments with a wide range of groups. You’ll work both independently and as part of a team to facilitate activity sessions. Each day, you could be training new instructors, working with schools, corporates, families, private groups, or individuals. The majority of our instructors work for us year-round, expanding their skills to gain winter qualifications, whilst some choose to work specific seasons.

This is more than just a job. You won’t just be an instructor: you’ll be a coach, a facilitator, a mentor, a guide, an inspiration. We’re looking for enthusiastic people to inspire others through exciting adventures. Your attitude and personality is paramount to us: we’re looking for someone who has a positive outlook, professionalism, promptness and who works well under pressure. You’ll possess strong communication skills, and excellent presentation skills and enjoy a varied and challenging programme.

We are looking to employ people with a range of experience, qualifications and skills:
•    If you are just starting out and only have a couple of qualifications, and a year or so of experience using them, then we might have the perfect position for you to use those existing skills and we’ll help you to develop further, or
•    If you are an experienced instructor/facilitator with high-level qualifications, we may have the perfect role for you, leading our advanced sessions, training other staff members or coaching on our Outdoor Instructor Training Courses.

To run our activity sessions we insist on people holding the qualification for the activity (if one exists) and be signed off as competent. Where qualifications don’t exist, staff will be in-house trained and signed off as competent.  For an instructor role, we are looking for people to hold at least two of the activity qualifications below. If you do not hold this then please look at our Apprenticeship or Outdoor Instructor Training Course  – we have a strong history of training instructors to be ready for working in the sector.
